My Expat Life

I'm an American expat living and working in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  When I'm not at work, there is so much to see and do outside of the city that it's as though I'm on a vacation on my days off.

Living in a Spanish-speaking country with rudimentary language skills is like trying to stay in the lines of a coloring book.  I try to get my point across without making a mess of things and sometimes I succeed.  Other times I am met with that, "Huh?" look or a chuckle, because the sentence I've tried to construct isn't making any sense at all, no matter how hard people try to work it out.

But no matter where I've lived, I've had experiences that will be with me the rest of my life.

It's about the people, the culture, the sights and sounds I see everyday that makes this life I lead outside the lines sometimes challenging, often times frustrating, and in the end, satisfying.

I'll tell stories here, sometimes there will be videos or recipes.  My objective is to share what goes on in the life of an American living far from home and to make it more than one of those sessions when you were a kid, sitting down in the family room having to watch boring "family vacation" slides or videos.

If you're from Honduras or have family that lives in Honduras and have helpful suggestions for things to see and do here, please don't hesitate to comment or send a note.

Hasta Luego, Mi Amigos!
